Background:
Leytonstone School was opened in 1911 by the Duchess of Argyll as a single sex girl's school and has continued to serve the educational needs of the local community. In 1986 it became a co-educational comprehensive school when it adopted the present name. The school is now a very successful with a strong reputation in the community. The main part of the school is a grade 2 listed building including a panelled assembly hall. The school has a wide range of activities including art, information technology, drama, music, gymnasium, main hall, design technology. The school curriculum covers the following subjects including English, mathematics, science, technology, information and communication technology, French, humanities (geography/history/religious education), creative arts (art, music, drama), physical education, personal, social, health and religious education. The school aims to provide a safe, secure environment for all members of the school community.
