Background:

The school has been designed as an inclusive mainstream school. It has a single storey, open plan design, with 15 teaching areas housed in four wings, and one administrative wing, arranged around a central hall and community area. The school is not affiliated to any particular religious denomination. The school has an act of collective worship each day, which takes place during whole school assemblies, phase groups, wing groups and classes. The school aims to enable children to acquire knowledge, skills, understanding and practical abilities and the motivation to use them, provide access to the national curriculum at the highest level possible for each child, provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work, promote a partnership between parents and the school, celebrates the cultural diversity of the society in which they live, promotes the attainment of every child's full potential to enable them to become active, empowered participants of society, recognize children's achievement and celebrates their successes, promote an appropriate code of conduct for all children, promote a sense of belonging and citizenship, promote the self-esteem of each child and a caring and respectful attitude for others and values the contributions of the local community, enable children to appreciate human achievement in all areas of activity including art, music, science, literature and technology and raise expectations through the provision of appropriate role models.
