Background:
Poole's Park Primary was founded in 1876 and has occupied its present buildings since they were built in the 1930s. The school's 'rich and varied' inner-city intake is regarded as a 'valuable resource of knowledge and expertise' and over half of pupils speak English as an additional language. These children receive extra support from four specialist teachers. The school grounds consist of four playgrounds and a garden area. After school, children can participate in a variety of musical and sporting activities. Poole's Park has a 'strong' link with a local day-care centre for elderley and disabled citizens who visit school events and who the pupils visit in return. The school invites performing artists to entertain the children.
