Background:

Upton Cross Primary School is a co-educational county primary for pupils aged five to 11, with nursery class for three to five year olds. The school is not affiliated to any particular religious denomination. The children in the nursery and reception classes will be provided with learning experiences that provides a foundation for the national curriculum. The nursery curriculum covers all areas of the curriculum. It teaches science as a separate subject, but it also uses a topic based cross-curricular approach. All pupils have access to information technology. There is a dedicated ICT room as well as computers in each classroom. There are also laptop computers for pupil use. The school always has a number of extra-curricular activities but these may vary from term to term. Presently there are after-school classes in basketball, football, cricket, cheerleading and information technology. The school aims to ensure there is co-operation between home, school and the community and to foster good links. The school aims to provide a secure, well ordered environment to ensure learning takes place.
