Background:
The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls is an 11 to 18 comprehensive foundation school in the London Borough of Ealing, which was formed in 1964. The main buildings were built at this time. However it has grown signifcially over the last 40 years and now has new buildings to house languages, art and music as well as a new sixth form centre. It gained specialist college status in September 2002 in science and mathematics. This award has enabled to extend the range of courses offered, including separate sciences at GCSE, and increased the number of extra-curricular and enrichment activities across all subject areas. The value added results from key stage two to key stage four in 2005 and at advanced levels. Achievement well above the national average. The school aims to provide excellent learning experiences for all pupils. The school has a philosophy that everyone, irrespective of age, has an infinite potential for learning, and a capacity for change.
