Background:

The Royal Docks Community School is a mixed inner urban comprehensive community school with over 1200 students, situated in the 'Docklands' area of East London. The school has an inclusive philosophy towards education and students with a wide range of special learning and physical needs and abilities are educated in mainstream classes, with the appropriate support. Apart from its inclusitivity in respect of special educational needs (SEN), nearly 50 first languages are spoken, many children come from families facing social and economic difficulties; and literacy is a major presenting problem. The school ethos is about respect for each person's individuality regardless of his or her origin or circumstance.
