Background:
Charlotte Turner Primary School was built in the 1950s as a singly-storey infant school. It was expanded in 1997 with new buildings added to the front and back of the original structure, and a second floor was added to provide two classrooms and a pupil support room. The school now has 14 rooms for classes, a new library, a new ICT suite, a community kitchen and rooms for school community use, two workshops, a large hall for PE, assemblies and dining, a small hall for dance and drama, a pupil support room, an art room, and a medical room. Outdoors there are two playgrounds, an outdoor foundation play area for the nursery children, an outdoor foundation area for reception children and an adventure play area. There is a quiet, enclosed garden area in the middle of the school with a small mulberry garden and a water feature. There also is a large outdoor environmental project. Extra-curricular activities include football club, dance sessions, guitar lessons, booster classes, lunchtime Key Stage workshop activities and UK online ICT workshops. The school aims to support the development of children as reflective learners.
