Background:
Dame Tipping Church of England Primary School is a voluntary controlled primary school catering for boys and girls between the ages of four and 11. The present school building dates from 1891 and the school has been extended at various times since then. The school traditionally has close links with the parish church of St John the Evangelist, reflected in its present voluntary controlled status. The school has a kitchen area for cookery lessons, indoor wall-bars for physical education and patio garden areas to enhance environmental projects. Religious education is taught in the school in accordance with the agreed syllabus adopted by the London Borough of Havering. The school has an active 'The Friends of the Dame Tipping CofE School Association', which organises social and money raising functions throughout the year. The school aims for each child to be independent, adaptable, caring and tolerant and to achieve their full potential.
