Background:

Founded in 1915 to serve the local Paddington community, Edward Wilson Primary School is housed in a three-storey building with two playgrounds and a nursery garden. The site is in the middle of Westbourne Green parkland, next to the Regents Canal. Activities in netball, drama, choir, xylophone, debating, Indian dance, art, gardening and school magazine are run by the teachers. There is a school council and an active parents group, which meets weekly and works on curriculum activities. The school has been awarded prizes for art work, writing and gardening related activities. Charity work and community links are also important to the school, elderly residents are invited into the school during harvest festival, and carol singing raises money for charities. There are termly concerts and shows. The school has achieved the Healthy Schools Award. There is an enrichment programme which introduces children to such subjects as thinking skills, paper making, film making and French.
