Background:
The school was founded in 1870 and a new building was added to the site in 1970. Though surrounded by offices and flats in London's East End, it still has an area of 'green' space, though not enough for the children to play certain games on. Local businesses are involved in a literacy project to to assist children at the school with their reading. The school is planning fund-raising activities for Cafod, the Catholic Association for Overseas Development, and raises money for other good causes at different times of the year, for example homeless charities at Christmas time and the Children's Society at Lent. The school is not over-subscribed.
