Background:
Franciscan Primary School is a primary and nursery school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is three to 11. The pupils are housed in three ground floor buildings surrounded by play areas. The buildings were constructed at the turn of the century and were opened-as three separate schools-in 1907. Fifty years later the girls and boys schools were merged to form a junior mixed school. On 1st January 1985 all three buildings were amalgamated to form the new Franciscan primary school. The school holds a wide range of after-school clubs. These activities include cricket, football, athletics, music, dance, art and a Shakespeare club. The school aims to establish a positive, orderly and purposeful community where all children have the opportunity to develop their skills, talents and interests to the highest possible level.
