Background:

Highgate Wood is a mixed county secondary school with 1320 students, serving Crouch End and the surrounding areas. The school has a comprehensive intake of children who come from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. The school was built in 1961 with an additional science and Humanities Pavilion being opened in 1988. The school has well qualified and experienced staff at Highgate Wood. The school has been enlarged and enhanced under the Private Finance Initiative scheme (PFI). The library is comfortable and well stocked and is extensively used by students lunchtime and before-school and after-school. The school has three designated information and communication technology (ICT) rooms. Activities include: art, design and technology, information and communication technology, drama, humanities, library, mathematics, music, reading and photography as well as range of sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, dance, football, hockey, gymnastics, netball and tennis. The school has a wide range of clubs both at lunchtime and before-school and after-school.
