Background:

Holy Trinity CE Junior School has served the Parish of Wallington since 1826 when the first school for boys was founded and stood in Wrights' Row near Wallington Green. The present building in Bute Road was opened in 1896 with infants, boys and girls under separate head teachers. Holy Trinity is a voluntary aided Church of England Junior School where the Christian ethos is part of all it does, and where the children, their families and backgrounds are valued and respected. The school has close links with Holy Trinity, St Patrick's and Springfield Churches. The Churches provide the majority of its governors as well as a percentage of the maintenance costs. Clergy and Christian workers regularly lead Assembly and sometimes contribute to religious education lessons. The school's religious education is firmly rooted in Christianity, but it also teaches about Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Children are encouraged to reflect on and respond to spiritual dimensions of life. There is a playground with a field and a picnic area. It has a fully equipped computer suite, and has just completed building work to create a new library and music room. Its extra-curricular activities include recorder club, cross-country running, netball, French rugby, football and drama club. It also offers tuition in guitar, string, brass and woodwind instruments. The school aims to create a happy school in which pupils work hard and learn well, within a Christian environment.
