Background:
Originally a grammar school, Langley Park began life as Beckenham School for Girls in 1919. In 1959, it moved to its present parkland site in southwest Beckenham. It became a comprehensive in 1976. The school became a technology college in 1996 and a member of the South East England Virtual Education Action Zone in 2000. This is reflected in the facilities on offer, which include a technology block, an upgraded school library with CDROM, six dedicated full class ICT rooms and a multi-media language laboratory. Sports teams are well supported, very successful at borough and county level, and heavily reliant on its minibus fleet; its orchestra, bands and choirs are large and thriving. The school provides a very caring environment and pupils are given excellent educational and personal support.
