Background:

Pupils are able to take part in competitive matches in football, netball, hockey, swimming, diving, cross country and athletics and 'regularly win trophies'. The school'stages an annual pantomime and children also have the opportunity to a join a choir, orchestra or recerder group. Individual instrumental tuition is offered in violin, trombone, trumpet, horn, clarinet, flute, bassoon, oboe, percussion and cello. Extra-curricular activities include board games, chess, computers and Saturday clubs and discos. Residential visits to Holland and the Lake District are organised and funds are raised for charity each year. Children with special educational needs (SEN) are supported by a SEN co-ordinator, part-time SEN teacher and six teaching assistants both in and out of the classroom. Literacy and numeracy 'booster' classes take place before school. Pupils may arrive at school early as a 'breakfast club' is offered and after-school provision is also available.
