Background:
Lea Valley Primary School was first opened in 1976 as a one-form entry primary school. Later in 1983 a nursery unit was built on the site. The school was extended in 1994. The school has two playgrounds, a covered seated area and a central courtyard garden with a pond. The school consists has a number of well-resourced book areas, a well-equipped music room with a recording studio, ICT room and resource areas for language, mathematics, geography, history, art, science and technology. Each class group has its own computer. The children are introduced to a variety of activities, sports and games during their time at school. Swimming lessons are provided for children from Year 2 upwards and certificates are awarded to encourage achievement. The school aims to provide the highest possible quality of education in a positive, stimulating environment, in which children can develop personal confidence, cooperation within a community and achieve their full potential.
