Background:
In September 1974, Maria Fidelis Roman Catholic Convent School FCJ was formed by the merger of St Aloysius Grammar with St Vincent's Secondary School, which was run by the sister of Charity. The school is situated on two sites within ten minutes walking distance of each other. The first years are based in north Gower Street and the upper school, including the sixth form, is in Phoenix Road. Both sites have specialist facilities. All pupils in the upper school follow a physical education course, which uses off-site facilities at sports centres. Activities offered include dance, netball, athletics, trampoline, badminton, gymnastics, rounders, football, softball, basketball, tennis, aerobics and health related exercises.
