Background:
In trusteeship of The Oratory Fathers; small building on corner of Bury Walk and Cale street. Roof playground; at lunchtime, all pupils cross road to play in St Luke's playground. Only sandwich lunches; no facilities for hot meals. After-school clubs include French, ballet, chess, art, homework, cooking, and instrument tuition. Strong links with Oratory Church; supportive parents and governors; dedicated staff. Sporting success, particularly in swimming. Over-subscribed, with three applications per place. DfES achievement awards (2001, 2002). Ethos: 'Roman Catholic, small, friendly school with strong family traditions. School chaplain has been visitng the school since 1966. Good relationships between staff and pupils, and staff and parents. Pupils taught to live the Gospel values and demonstrate this in taking responsibility for their behaviour and learning'.
