Background:

Southborough is a thriving school with an excellent reputation. Its well qualified and caring staff provide a firm and challenging array of after-school activities. There is also a continuing programme of improvements to school buildings and facilities so pupils can benefit from specialist subject teaching area, library and research facilities, extensive playing fields and the latest computer technology. The school is very proud of its sporting achievement, ranging from the traditional school teams in soccer, rugby, cricket and basketball, to the sports where individual performance is important such as athletics, tennis, golf and table tennis. There are also trips to Europe and the USA, as well as educational visits to museums, galleries and theatres. There are many other activities including chess, cooking and fishing, and science club and computer club. There is a strong tradition of university success at Southborough. It also has links with numerous further education establishments and Kingston University. It regards it a priority to help students think carefully about their future and the choice which will suit them. The school wants each student to leave with good qualifications, a sense of self-discipline, high self-esteem, respect for others and a feeling of purpose and direction.
