Background:
Southwold School was opened in 1886 and was originally called Detmold Road School. The school has a number of extra-curricular activities at lunchtime and after-school, which include football, homework clubs, dance, music, drama and Turkish classes. Southwold's aim is to create a secure and stimulating environment where each child can achieve his/her full potential. The organisation and curriculum aims to help children understand, appreciate and respect differences, whether based on gender, culture or ethnic background, sharing respect for and appreciation of diversity. It wants children to have a very positive view of school and school life.
