Background:

St Augustine's is a Church of England Voluntary Aided mixed comprehensive school in the Diocese of London. It is located in Maida Vale, the school is easily accessible both by private and public transport. The students come from every London Borough and from over 70 primary schools and many more join the school at sixth form. Beyond the classroom, there is much activity. Sports fixtures are held against other schools in most sports, there is a choir and various clubs and societies meet regularly. The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme is offered to pupils in Year 10. There has also been ongoing modernisation and development of IT, (both administrative and educational) to provide modern networked systems throughout the school for both staff and pupils. The aim is to make its students IT competent and technologically and scientifically aware, and as literate and numerate as is possible. St Augustine's has recently been awarded Specialist School Science Status. The mathematics department played an important part in the bid and will contribute significantly to delivery of the aims. St Augustine's Church of England High School is a community where the Christian faith and school worship are central to moral development, mutual respect and an appreciation for the differences of race, gender, culture and faith, which enhance the community.
