Background:

St Elizabeth RC Primary School opened in September 2001. It was dedicated by Cardinal Cormac-Murphy O'Connor in June 2002. St Elizabeth School serves the parishes of Our Lady of the Assumption in Bethnal Green and St John the Baptist, Hackney. It exists because parents and Church authorities wish their children to be educated in a Christian environment where the ethos and culture are firmly rooted in the Catholic faith. Through the school curriculum and acts of worship, it aim is to foster in the children an appreciation, understanding, respect and knowledge of all cultures reflected in the school community and throughout the world. Acts of worship are held each day. A variety of groupings are used, whole school, key stages, foundation stage, year groups and individual class. It aim is to develop the basic skills and knowledge, which promote an enjoyment and appreciation for the subject. Children are involved in singing, playing musical instruments and listening to and composing music. The school aim is to be a community working with the Church and home, which grows spiritually, morally and socially.
