Background:
St George's, Bickley, Church of England Primary School is situated between Bromley and Chislehurst. The school was first opened in 1864, but the old buildings were almost completely destroyed during World War II. The school has three playgrounds at the rear and access to fields for sport. The school has close links with St George's Church. It offers the standard national curriculum subjects for a primary school, but places an emphasis on the arts. It also has three choirs and a small orchestra who perform at local festivals, as well as supporting local charity events and performing at local old people's homes. The school has firm Christian values. If pupils are academically capable, it encourages them to sit for the Bexley tests as well as selective schools. Each year the school has a children passing the Bexley tests and often have one or two children accepted at St Olaves and Neustead Woods.
