Background:
Streatham Wells is a community school with a nursery. Each of the classes has a music lesson once a week and follows a music scheme of work called 'Sound of Music'. By using this scheme children learn to appreciate music whilst developing confidence and a wide range of musical skills that include pitch, rhythm and composition. The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities including: drama, cricket, gymnastics, football and French. Field trips and visits to places of educational interest such as museums, galleries, religious buildings, theatres, and concert halls, are an integral part of curriculum. It has a very active parent-teacher association (PTA), which organises social and fundraising events and PTA meetings are held regularly to plan forthcoming events and discuss current issues. The school aims: To provide a progressive and innovative environment whilst retaining its family atmosphere in addition to encouraging children in their aspirations and working closely with parents/carers to help children to reach their full potential.
