Background:

The Highway Primary School is a one-form entry co-educational community primary with approximately 220 pupils on roll. It has two networked ICT suites, staging and lighting for productions, and dedicated music and art rooms. At present, it has a computer in every classroom as well as two computer rooms equipped with enough computers for class teaching with no more than two children at a terminal. Children use educational software designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in line with national curriculum guidelines. It has links with both Christ Church and The Spinnaker Group who have taken assemblies. Music is a very important part of the school. It has a school choir and orchestra and puts on several concerts during a year. Extra-curricular activities include school bookshop, chess club, choir, orchestra, musical instrument tuition, athletics, drama and gymnastics.
