Background:
Torriano is a junior school, in the heart of the London borough of Camden. The school's building is Victorian and provides a stimulating working environment for all. The school was built in 1910. It has a computer suite with an interactive whiteboard and 16 networked computers. There are various after-school facilities. There is an after-school playcentre with 40 places, which is run by Camden Leisure Services. There are other school-run clubs for music, sport, art, information technology and booster classes. Music and dance is highly valued in the school. The school provides a well-balanced programme of physical education through gymnastics, involving floor work and large and small apparatus, games, athletics activities, top sports and orienteering. Visits are also arranged regularly to support the children's learning in different areas of the curriculum. The school aims to create a happy, purposeful and stimulating environment, in which all members can grow in self-esteem, develop their full potential and respect and value each others worth.
