Background:
Wanstead High School is an eight-form entry community high school, successfully serving the educational needs of over 1500 pupils aged 11-18, with 300 in its sixth form. The school offers a full range of educational opportunities to students from a local community rich in social, cultural and linguistic diversity. It has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including clubs, sports events, outings and trips, are a strong feature of school life. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum, which will prepare students for a changing technological society. All areas of the curriculum have their own suites of room with considerable emphasis on specialist resources for science, information and communication technology, expressive arts, food, textiles and design technology. The school community is dedicated to the principles of equal opportunities. The school wishes to create a caring community, which demonstrates respect for one another and understanding and tolerance of different cultures and religions. The school works in partnership with parents and the local community.
