Background:
Christ Church CofE Primary School was founded in 1864 and moved to its present site, in the middle of a residential area in 1963. The school has its own playing field, backing onto Surbiton Tennis Club. A brand new information and communication technology (ICT) suite was opened, which allows whole classes to participate in computer based learning activities. There are also new personal computers (PCs) in each classroom. Physical education is considered important throughout the school and children are encouraged to develop their skills. Lessons for children in Key Stage 1 may involve beanbags, balls of various sizes, play bats, hoops and skipping ropes. Children in Key Stage 2 play football, hockey and netball in the winter and participate in athletics, games and rounders in the summer. In religious education lessons, children are taught about other faiths that are represented in the school and in the wider community. Christ Church is a Christian school where purposeful learning, stimulus and a full partnership between teachers and parents encourage each child to reach her/his maximum potential.
