St Angela's Ursuline Convent School is a Roman Catholic school is a Roman Catholic School is a Roman Catholic School built in 1862 by the sisters of Ursuline order, inspired by the vision of their founder and its namesake. Although it is under lay management, its Catholic tradition is flourishing and it makes every effort to make it modern and relevant. The school is highly over-subscribed and therefore pupils are admitted in accordance with its criteria. Individuals have equal value at St Angela's and it celebrates cultural diversity in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect. The school not only offers a firm and clear faith-based ethos for girls' education, but also the highest quality academic provision which is recognized in its status as a Technology College and a Beacon School. Technology College status was first awarded to St Angela's in April 1995. Since gaining Technology College status there have been significant changes in the school. Its ICT facilities include a network of 290 and plus PCs all accessing the internet, 24 interactive whiteboards and a CISCO system academy programmed for post 16 and community students; a complete refurbished design and technology suite of rooms; increased teaching time for science, design technology and ICT which has led to the provision of double science, design and technology and GNVQ intermediate or GCSE ICT for all students. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, cricket, basketball, volleyball and rugby.
