Background:
St Edward's is a Catholic voluntary aided primary school, which has served the parish of Our Lady of Compassion, Upton Park since 1902. Initially the school was located in Castle Street. It was relocated in September 2000 to the present site in Green Street, as part of West Ham United Football Club's Redevelopment Programme. It is a two-form entry school and caters for children aged three to 11 years. The school nursery was opened in April 2001. Pupils are encouraged to develop their sporting and creative talents with additional input from specialist staff of local secondary schools. The school offers a wide range of after-school clubs including football, drama, karate, homework, athletics, basketball and rugby. The school has achieved DfES achievement award, Sportsmark award and Investor in People status. The school'strives to live by the values of the Gospel. It is committed to ensuring that all pupils grow both academically and socially whilst continuing on their faith journey.
