Background:
St Joseph's is a voluntary aided Catholic Primary School for children aged three to 11 years. The school is in the parish of Our Lady and St Joseph Church, Hanwell in the Diocese of Westminster. The school was officially opened in January 1902 in premises in Boston Road, Hanwell and the present school building in York Avenue was opened in March 1908. In 1992 the nursery was opened. It is a two-form entry school and is accommodated in two separate buildings. Each building has its own hall and there is a library, computer suite and a room for teaching of children with special needs. Both sites have their own play areas and a pathway links the infant and junior schools. There are a number of clubs available to both infants and juniors. These include computer, drama, art, gardening and a variety of sports. The school aims to provide all children with an education, which will enable them to grow in their faith and be inspired by Christ through his teachings.
